Moby Dick Whale Week

Moby Dick Whale Week — €449 per person

A full week of unforgettable whale and dolphin encounters in the heart of the Atlantic.

The Azores sit at a crossroads for pelagic marine life — making every trip a potential encounter with species you will find nowhere else on earth. Depending on the season you may see blue whales and fin whales in April and May, or the iconic sperm whale — the true Moby Dick — from June to September. Pilot whales, false killer whales, bottlenose dolphins, beaked whales, and rare dwarf and pygmy sperm whales are also possible on any given day. In 2022 our guests witnessed the ghost whale — believed to be the only white humpback whale in the northern hemisphere — passing between the Barents Sea and the Caribbean. Once in a lifetime does not begin to cover it.

What's Included:

  • Welcome at the whale watching centre
  • Briefing with one of our marine biologists about your trip and safety on board
  • 6 whale watching excursions
  • Trips by power zodiac or power catamaran depending on conditions

Important: Weather in the North Atlantic is unpredictable and all trips are weather-dependent. Our departures also depend on whale sightings — our spotters report locations in real time and we only depart once whales are confirmed. We operate from either Madalena or Lajes port, with the starting point decided the evening before based on conditions. Please be flexible and ready to depart from the recommended port at the advised times.
